Imperial Recruitment are delighted to be working with a growing and ambitious business based in Newton Aycliffe to recruit a Part-Time Accounts Assistant. This is a key role within the business, supporting its continued growth and future plans. This position would suit an experienced payroll/Accounts professional who enjoys autonomy, values flexibility, and wants to play an important part in the success of a developing company.

The Role

Reporting directly to the Directors, you will take ownership of the payroll function while working closely with the commercial and operational teams to ensure accuracy, compliance, and smooth day-to-day operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • End-to-end payroll processing
  • Verifying and submitting PAYE
  • Managing and submitting CIS returns
  • Processing payments and issuing remittances
  • Payroll reconciliations and reporting
  • Liaising with HMRC and external stakeholders as required
  • Producing payroll reports and updates for Directors
  • Supporting the wider accounts function where needed

About You

  • Proven experience in a payroll-focused role (construction experience desirable but not essential)
  • Strong knowledge of PAYE, CIS, and payroll processes
  • Experience using Xero or similar accounting software
  • Highly organised with excellent attention to detail
  • Comfortable working independently and taking ownership of your role
  • Confident communicator, able to liaise with senior management
