Imperial Medical Practice are looking for an Apprentice Care Navigator to join our friendly team. Potential candidates must be flexible, have excellent customer service skills and be confident in dealing with patients face to face and on the telephone. You will be dealing with tasks such as: prescriptions, making appointments, dealing with patient queries, registering patients, monitoring requests via email and other admin tasks. The job is varied and very busy, you will be working between the hours of 8am-6.30pm Monday to Friday (36 hours per week, including protected study time).

Main duties of the job

  • Greeting and directing patients
  • Effective use of the appointment system
  • Booking appointments
  • Processing of information and assisting patients as required
  • Acting as the central point of contact for patients, distributing information, messages and enquiries for the clinical team, liaising with multidisciplinary team members and external agencies such as secondary care and community service providers

About us

We expect the candidate to be open to all tasks within primary care. We offer full training and support. Primary care is not for everyone, and it is challenging but also rewarding at the same time. It is hard work, and no day is the same. We need an "all-rounder" to help in areas of admin and reception along with coding and letters etc.

Job responsibilities

  • Offer general assistance to the Practice team and project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone
  • Receive, assist and direct patients in accessing the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient and effective way
  • Undertake a variety of administrative duties to assist in the smooth running of the Practice including the provision of secretarial and clerical support to clinical staff and other members of the Practice team
  • Facilitate effective communication between patients, members of the primary health care team, secondary care and other associated healthcare agencies

  • Qualifications: Educated to GCSE level
  • A demonstrable commitment to professional development
  • Disclosure and Barring Service Check: This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
