The Group Finance Controller will lead the Group’s financial operations, ensuring robust consolidation, reporting, treasury management, and compliance. This senior role is central to shaping financial best practice, reporting into the Chief Operating Officer and advising the Board, and building strong governance across all group companies. The successful candidate will drive financial planning and control, manage external stakeholder relationships, and lead a high-performing finance team.

Key Accountabilities

  • Group Consolidation: Responsibility for Group consolidation of P&L and Balance Sheet.
  • Financial Planning & Reporting: Lead the budget and reforecasting process; prepare group packs, board packs, bank packs, and ad‑hoc reports.
  • Controls & Best Practice: Ensure financial governance, Delegation of Authority, and group‑wide control frameworks.
  • Audit: Lead on statutory and internal audits.
  • Treasury & Cashflow: Manage treasury and Group Working Capital Management (WCM), overlook 13‑week cash‑flow forecasting (CFF) and long‑range modelling.
  • Corporate Affairs: Oversee legal, shares, corporate affairs, and tax compliance.
  • Stakeholder Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with external
  • Management Accounts: Deliver monthly management accounts; oversee controls, business partnering, and transactional processes.
  • Commercial Collaboration: Work in cohesion with the Product Director to drive group initiatives.
  • Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and develop finance team members.
  • Other Duties: Undertake all other responsibilities appropriate to the role.

Ninety Day Priorities

  • Successfully complete FY2025 audit.
  • Build a 13‑week forecast consolidating all group companies and establish a formal working capital function.
  • Adopt data model and drive Sage 200 migration to new software.
  • Review team structure and refine finance function for efficiency and alignment.
  • Build on current reforecast model and introduce quarterly forecasting including BS & CF.

Overview of Responsibilities

  • Own trusted data sets that support the business and exceed expectations of external scrutiny.
  • Advise the Board and Senior Leadership team on financial best practice, actively contributing to weekly Management meetings and monthly board meetings.
  • Provide leadership of financial and commercial functions at the centre of the Group.
  • Act as the key reporting and compliance officer.

Skills & Experience

  • Qualified accountant (CIMA, ACA, ACCA) with at least 5+ years’ post‑qualified experience in industry.
  • Proven experience in a senior group finance role, ideally with multi‑entity consolidation responsibility.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (including vlookups, macros); proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Experience with Sage Line 200 essential.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong organisational, planning, and prioritisation skills.
  • Consistently high technical ability and problem‑solving mindset.
  • Track record of process improvement and financial governance.
  • Experienced people manager with proven ability to develop and motivate teams.
  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills across multiple business functions.
