About the role:
Applications are invited for a Research Associate position at the intersection of machine learning and information theory. The successful candidate will be based within the Information Processing and Communications Laboratory under the supervision of Prof. Deniz Gunduz.
What you will do:
You will conduct independent research in machine learning, information theory, and communications. Experience in communication systems, coding theory, information theory, distributed learning, reinforcement learning, and modern deep learning architectures is preferred.
You are expected to publish your work in top journals and conferences and contribute to securing external research funding.
The position includes an allowance for travel to international conferences.
What we are looking for:
- A PhD degree (or equivalent research, industrial, or commercial experience) in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, or related fields.
- Experience in statistical learning theory, information theory, communication theory, optimisation, and coding theory.
- Strong analytical and computing skills.
- A proven research record with relevant publications.
- Programming skills.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently.
- Fluency in spoken and written English.
Additional Information:
This is a full-time (35 hours/week), fixed-term position for up to 24 months.
Applicants not yet awarded their PhD will be appointed as Research Assistant with a salary range of £43,003 – £46,297 per annum.
