What you would be doing
You will join Imperial’s International Relations Office, to proactively deliver academic partnership strategies spanning research, innovation and education in Europe, and to provide specialist regional advice, briefings, and relationship and event management in support of European engagement. You will be responsible for developing and delivering strategic partnerships and programmes that advance Imperial's research, innovation and education capacity across the region. Working closely with academic and institutional partners, EU institutions, national governments and funding organisations, you will support the design and implementation of collaborative initiatives that create lasting mutual benefit for Imperial and its partners. In support of this, you will monitor trends and developments across the European landscape, providing expert advice and briefing to senior colleagues on opportunities, risks and strategic priorities.
Specific responsibilities include:
- Developing structured, strategic international engagement plans to support and develop Imperial’s international partnerships and collaborations in specific countries and/or regions across Europe.
- Coordinating the proactive development and delivery of strategic partnership initiatives in Europe.
- Conceptualising, delivering and leveraging academic partnership investments focused on developing European strategic partnerships.
- Being a credible, useful and trusted source of advice to senior and academic colleagues by using established international networks to identify and leverage international opportunities for Imperial.
- Acting as a key senior contact for Imperial’s key European partners, possessing sufficient credibility to lead on discussions regarding university interests and priorities, ensuring expectations are managed appropriately and relevant opportunities acted upon.
What we are looking for
- Experience developing and delivering strategic international partnerships, including designing and implementing collaborative programmes with measurable outcomes.
- Experience building and sustaining high-value networks across relevant institutions, including universities, research institutions, funding bodies or government.
- The ability to work effectively with senior stakeholders across complex organisations, both internally and externally.
- An understanding of the academic and research environment and what drives effective university partnerships.
- Excellent written English, with the ability to write high-quality briefings.
- Strong analytical skills and a strategic mindset, with the ability to interpret complex information and spot opportunities.
- The ability to manage multiple complex workstreams with minimal supervision.
- The ability to navigate a large matrix environment.
- A sound grasp of the dynamics of the relationships between departments, groups and individuals of an organisation, and sensitivity to differences in priorities.
What we can offer you
- The opportunity to continue your career at a world-leading institution and be part of our mission to use science for humanity.
- The opportunity to contribute to a growing portfolio aimed at driving greater global collaboration to meet global grand challenges.
- The opportunity to work closely with a broad range of teams and senior staff across Imperial.
- A sector-leading salary and remuneration package, including 41 days annual leave and generous pension schemes.
- Access to a range of workplace benefits including a flexible working policy from day one, generous family leave packages, on-site leisure facilities and cycle-to-work scheme.
- Interest-free season ticket loan schemes for travel.
- A diverse, inclusive and collaborative work culture with various staff networks and resources to support your personal and professional wellbeing.
