About the role
We are looking for a physiotherapist with an interest in MedTech and entrepreneurship, who wants to join our academic and commercial startup team. You will help develop and trial a novel digital innovation for back pain invented in Imperial College. The innovation consists of a smartbelt providing core muscle biofeedback to people undergoing therapy, or fitness training.
What you would be doing
Your involvement will consist of jointly running a clinical trial of the invention in people with back pain, so as to gain user feedback and evidence for effectiveness. You will then help us to interpret this data for the purpose of research publication, product optimisation and eventually integration into healthcare pathways and personal fitness plans.
What we are looking for
You should be a certified Physiotherapist at Band 6 or higher, with an interest and experience in back pain therapy. It would also help if you are a good communicator and can work independently with sufficient initiative and interest to recruit and engage research participants.
What we can offer you
The job is part time (0.5 FTE) so can be flexibly combined with other commitments you may have. You will receive the pro rata salary of an experienced Band 6 / early Band 7 therapist, as well as pro rata annual leave and generous pension. The position provides for academic experience in a world-leading university, with co-authorship of research publications arising, as well as the opportunity to apply for higher degrees e.g. Masters, PhD. If the project is successful, the person will also be in a strong position to continue work with either the inventive academic team or commercial venture arising.
Further information
This is a Part time (17.5 hrs p/w) fixed term role based at our Charing Cross Campus. This role is for a fixed-term contract for 9 months, with a view to increasing to 12 months in first instance.
