We are seeking a Research Technician to play a key role in a new gut hormone receptor drug discovery programme. Gut hormones regulate many metabolic processes, and there is great interest in exploiting their effects therapeutically. The successful applicant will join a thriving and world-leading group engaged in making and applying scientific discoveries in the gut hormone field with the ultimate aim of improving human health. You will play a key role in the in vivo and in vitro testing of new gut hormone analogues designed by the group.

You will need to have a degree with a strong focus on G protein-coupled receptor pharmacology/biology and experience of in vivo pharmacology work in a related area. Below are a few of the essential skills and knowledge required:

  • Knowledge of current therapeutic approaches to obesity and type 2 diabetes
  • Ability to prioritise a varied workload and work under pressure to meet deadlines while maintaining a high level of accuracy
  • Ability to follow protocols and learn new techniques in a concise and skilled manner
  • Willingness to work as part of a team and to be open-minded and cooperative
  • Flexible attitude towards work
