Overview

In this role you drive revenue and maximise space utilisation for events and conferences at a world-renowned university. You lead an events sales team, oversee the full sales cycle, and partner with marketing to grow internal and external business. You will manage events from enquiry to delivery, ensure high service standards, and report on budgeting and compliance. Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop direct reports, including recruitment, training, performance management, and workload planning.
  • Foster a culture of excellent customer service and strengthen relationships across the Imperial community.
  • Develop strategic sales plans, identify new market opportunities, and build high-value, repeat business.
  • Collaborate with marketing to deliver campaigns and analyse performance to boost results.
  • Oversee the full sales process from enquiries to proposals, contract negotiations, and closing deals.
  • Maintain strong client relationships, hit sales targets, monitor market activity, and contribute to commercial success.
  • Oversee events from enquiry to delivery, gather feedback, support promotions, and manage budgets and financial reporting.
  • Ensure accurate invoicing and compliance with health, data protection, and other regulatory requirements.

Key requirements

  • Degree or equivalent, preferably in sales, marketing, or business-related field
  • Experience managing a team with ability to train, develop, motivate, and lead
  • Commercial sales and marketing experience, ideally in higher-education or hotel/conferencing venues
  • Experience developing and implementing a sales and marketing strategy for a multi-venue environment
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and campaigns simultaneously
  • Experience using Content Management Systems for writing, editing, and updating content
  • Experience analysing data to demonstrate ROI and inform strategies
  • Experience using social media in a business context
  • Strong understanding of the hotel/conferencing industry and commercial awareness of market influences
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; comfortable liaising with senior staff
  • Flexibility to work longer hours, including evenings and weekends, across campuses
