About the role:

Are you an experienced systems leader ready to shape and improve the University’s student-facing systems as our Head of Student Systems? This is an exciting opportunity to lead the support, operation and continuous improvement of core student administrative systems, ensuring they are reliable, secure & fit for purpose. You will play a key role in enhancing service quality, supporting system upgrades and testing, and delivering effective training and guidance that enables staff and students to make the best use of our systems.

What you would be doing:

  • Lead the support, operation & continuous improvement of the University’s student-facing administrative systems and associated integrations, ensuring they are reliable, secure and fit for purpose.
  • Work closely with Registry, ICT and operational stakeholders to manage system issues, coordinate improvements, and support the successful launch of new or enhanced systems.
  • Oversee system quality assurance and user acceptance testing for upgrades and new developments, including regression testing where required.
  • Lead and develop the Student Systems and Training Managers, fostering an effective and engaged team culture & supporting high-quality service delivery.
  • Ensure the effective delivery of training, guidance & documentation for users of student systems, helping staff across the University to use systems confidently and effectively.

What we are looking for:

  • Experience of leading the support, operation and continuous improvement of complex business systems, ideally within higher education or a similarly complex organisation.
  • Experience of managing system issues, upgrades & user acceptance testing, with the ability to work effectively with ICT and operational stakeholders to deliver improvements.
  • Strong knowledge of student-facing administrative systems and their role in supporting service delivery, operational resilience & regulatory requirements.
  • Experience of leading and developing staff, with the ability to build an effective and engaged team culture.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose system issues and identify practical, sustainable solutions.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships across a complex organisation, including ICT, academic colleagues & professional services teams.
