About the role

Looking for a role where your skills can make a real difference - while giving you greater flexibility, balance and long-term progression? Join a world-leading university, and Top 10 Employer for Working Families, whose mission is to improve health and transform lives. We are seeking a Contracts Negotiator to support researchers across Imperial's Faculty of Medicine by drafting, reviewing and negotiating research-related contracts. This role is ideal for people who understand the language of contracts - whether from the NHS, charity, public sector, higher education, or another research-support environment.

Experience in contract negotiation, agreement review, or similar administrative roles - particularly those requiring attention to detail and stakeholder management - is highly desirable. The Joint Research Office (JRO) supports the research community across the Faculty of Medicine. Our specialist Contracts Team advises on terms and conditions for externally funded medical research projects, helping ensure our researchers can deliver work that improves health outcomes globally.

What you would be doing

  • Managing your own portfolio of research contracts
  • Reviewing financials and project protocols to understand the research and ensure appropriate contractual terms
  • Drafting, reviewing and negotiating research and related agreements
  • Supporting researchers and departments to move projects forward efficiently and compliantly

What we are looking for

We welcome applicants looking for:

  • a role offering greater flexibility or work-life balance
  • a development opportunity to build specialist skills in research contracting
  • a stable and supportive environment with long-term career potential

You will have:

  • experience managing your own workload and meeting deadlines
  • the ability to influence and negotiate with various stakeholders effectively
  • a proactive, service-focused attitude
  • good knowledge of contracting areas such as intellectual property, confidentiality, publications, liabilities and other related areas

Previous experience in a university setting is not required.

What we can offer you

Working at Imperial means joining an organisation with a strong social purpose and a commitment to the wellbeing of its staff. We recognise that people thrive when they feel supported, so our Total Remuneration Package goes far beyond salary. It includes:

  • Generous leave allowance of 41 days for full time staff, inclusive of eight days for public holidays
  • Family-friendly benefits: generous family leave, parental leave and access to outstanding childcare through our Early Years Education Centre
  • Wellbeing support: staff networks, private healthcare options, and robust mental health and wellbeing services
  • Flexible working arrangements, including hybrid working (2 days remote per week)
  • Employee discounts, learning support, and excellent pension provision
