We are actively recruiting for a highly motivated Band 7 Physiotherapist to work in the Specialist Medicine team.
The Specialist Medicine team is based across 2 sites (Charing Cross Hospital & St Mary’s Hospital). The position is currently held within the Specialist Medicine Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy team at St Mary’s Hospital. We are looking for an innovative and a highly skilled PT who demonstrates passion for Specialist and Elderly Medicine, strong leadership skills, excellent communication and team management skills. You will provide expert assessment and treatment for patients on Endocrine, Hepatology, Gastroenterology, infectious diseases and Elderly Medicine wards.
The aim of the post is to provide high quality physiotherapy to adults often with age related conditions and to deliver a patient centered service encouraging independence and control of their health. In providing this service, you will be expected to be professional, efficient, effective, and committed to Continuous Professional Development, contributing every day to making healthcare better. This post provides physiotherapy input to the multi-disciplinary services based at St Mary’s Hospital (SMH).
• To be professionally and legally accountable for all aspects of own work, including management of patients in your care and undertake all aspects of clinical duties as an autonomous practitioner.
• To provide comprehensive and specialist therapy assessment and diagnosis for patients with a range of highly complex presentations, by utilising advanced clinical reasoning, evidence-based knowledge, investigative and analytical skills and specialist assessment techniques.
• To flexibly manage responsibilities for own complex caseload, service delivery and teaching commitments. To decide priorities for own work, balancing other patient related and professional demands and ensure that these remain in accordance with those of the teams as a whole.
• As a lead member of the department, ensure teaching programmes and clinical education / supervision meet the needs of more junior staff’s education and development to ensure that a specialist knowledge of intervention is acquired at all levels. To develop and conduct local in-service and MDT training.
• To take a lead in the development of the specialist clinical area/team and develop objectives and support prioritisation of projects for the team.
• To ensure own and direct reports’ Personal Development Plans (PDP) are in line with therapies and trust objectives. Professional Development (CPD) activities.
• To undertake other duties considered appropriate by Clinical Lead or therapy senior leadership team.
