We invite you to join our team in the dynamic role of a Lead Pharmacy Medicines Purchasing Officer. If you have a passion for connecting the dots within our Pharmacy team, then this opportunity might just be the perfect fit for you.
The purpose of this post is to work in the pharmacy purchasing office. The team consists of administration staff working alongside pharmacy technicians to ensure the timely and cost effective purchasing of medicines for all inpatient pharmacies across the four sites at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust.
The post holder is responsible managing the people, processes and performance of the team, as well as managing the planning and prioritisation of work.
- To manage the day-to-day running of the purchasing office on the Hammersmith Hospital site, ensuring staff purchase medicines in line with Trust procedures.
- To manage the day-to-day activities of the purchasing office, with support from the Lead Pharmacy Technician, Purchasing when necessary.
- To deputise for Lead Pharmacy Technician, Purchasing in her absence.
- To ensure the team take appropriate action where items are out of stock.
- To ensure contracts, price agreements and consortium buying deals are adhered to and that off contract purchases are approved appropriately.
- To ensure the team carry out the cost effective procurement of non-contract lines.
- To ensure that all price discrepancies are investigated and dealt with appropriately and in a timely manner. Ensuring pricing issues are communicated to the Lead Pharmacy Technician, Purchasing when necessary.
