Job overview
Managerially accountable to the Divisional Director of Operations, (and professionally accountable to the Divisional Director), this role will be responsible for providing operational, strategic direction, business planning, cost improvement planning, senior project support, estates expertise and leadership to ensure that the Division provides high quality patient care and achieves its performance objectives. The role will also provide coordination for all resilience and business continuity planning.
Under the Divisional Director of Operations leadership, this role will:
- Drive the operational performance of a large, complex Division. This will include the delivery of high quality patient care, clinical governance, patient safety, clinical quality, capital projects, cost improvement plans and delivery of financial targets.
- Have joint responsibility with the other Directorate General Managers and members of the Divisional management team for driving forward divisional wide programmes of work and service direction.
- Work closely with the Divisional Director of Operations to shape and implement the corporate objectives for the Trust, developing the divisional strategy in line with the Trust.
- Ensure that the necessary corporate governance arrangements are in place across the Division in line with requirements of a Trust.
- Have an external focus to facilitate greater working across the Healthcare Community e.g. with CCGs, local authorities and Imperial College, representing the Trust at senior level within the NHS and community and with partner organisations, working closely with them to institute integrated working in the best interests of patient care.

- First degree or equivalent
- Evidence of other specialist knowledge masters level or above
- Extensive knowledge of the NHS in the acute sector with up to date knowledge of medical/surgical services

- Significant experience within the Healthcare sector at senior manager level including responsibility for strategic planning and budgetary control for a group of complex medical/surgical specialities
- Demonstrable success in delivering large scale change and performance with and through management and clinical teams
- Track record of financial delivery including EBITDA target ratio, efficiency savings, income and expenditure targets
- Well-developed IT skills to manage and report on complex performance management information
