At Imperial Brands, science drives our transformation. We’re looking for a Senior NGP Science Manager to play a pivotal role in shaping, defending and launching our next generation product (NGP) portfolio across global markets on a 12 month fixed term basis. This is a rare opportunity to work at the intersection of cutting-edge science, regulatory strategy and commercial impact, leading a high-performing team and influencing how future products are brought to market worldwide.

The Senior NGP Science Manager leads a team of Science Managers who act as the single point of contact between Group Science & Regulatory Affairs (GSRA) and Next Generation Product (NGP) Ideation‑to‑Launch (I2L) projects. The role is accountable for planning, coordinating and delivering GSRA scientific and regulatory inputs into NGP launch projects, ensuring that commitments are clearly defined, appropriately resourced, and delivered to support successful and timely product launches in line with commercial plans and regulatory expectations. This is a senior delivery and integration leadership role. Success requires strong systems thinking, the ability to operate through influence, and confidence leading complex cross‑functional delivery rather than hands‑on laboratory work. You will be based at our Bristol HQ where we work on a hybrid basis of 2 days per week in the office.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and coach a high‑performing team of NGP Science Managers, setting clear expectations for ways of working, decision‑making and stakeholder engagement.
  • Act as the single point of accountability for end‑to‑end GSRA delivery into NGP Ideation‑to‑Launch (I2L) ensuring high‑quality, on‑time outcomes.
  • Translate project plans into clear GSRA scope, priorities, timelines and ownership; proactively identify delivery risks and drive mitigation.
  • Drive cross‑functional engagement as the primary GSRA interface with Innovation, NGP Category teams, Corporate & Legal Affairs, Quality and Markets, influencing decisions through strong, trusted relationships.
  • Lead in the delivery of concise updates to senior stakeholders and ensuring alignment on decisions and next steps.
  • Partner with GSRA planning and subject‑matter experts to commission and integrate scientific and regulatory inputs (analytical, safety, and regulatory), maintaining compliance and capacity visibility across the portfolio.

Qualifications

  • Degree in a relevant scientific discipline.
  • Proven experience working in a highly regulated industry.
  • Proven leadership and people management experience.
  • Experience in managing and leading multiple projects at any one time.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor messages to diverse audiences.
  • Confident influencer with strong stakeholder management skills.
