We’re looking for a Legal Counsel – Brand & Product Regulation to join our Legal team in London or at our Head Office in Bristol. This is an exciting opportunity to work at the centre of a fast-moving, global and highly regulated environment, providing expert legal advice across brand and product regulation matters while partnering closely with stakeholders across multiple markets and functions. You’ll play a key role in advising on legal developments impacting brands and products across Imperial, supporting projects and helping ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations globally. This role offers excellent exposure across the business and the opportunity to work on complex legal issues in a collaborative and international environment.

Principle Accountabilities

  • Provide expert legal advice and support on brand and product regulation matters across Imperial Brands.
  • Advise stakeholders on legal and regulatory developments relating to products, packaging, claims, marketing, and compliance requirements.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to deliver practical legal solutions while balancing legal, regulatory, and commercial risk.
  • Support legal operations, regulatory projects and business initiatives within the specialist legal area, escalating issues where appropriate.
  • Deliver legal training, guidance and knowledge sharing to internal stakeholders to increase awareness of key legal and regulatory developments.
  • Support continuous improvement and best practice across legal processes, ensuring the business remains compliant with relevant legal and regulatory obligations.

Skills and Experience Required

  • Qualified lawyer with relevant experience gained either in-house or in private practice, ideally with a focus on regulatory, product compliance, marketing or commercial legal matters.
  • Experience advising within FMCG or another highly regulated industry; experience in tobacco regulation or Next Generation Products would be advantageous.
  • Strong understanding of product compliance, brand and marketing law, with the ability to provide practical, commercially focused legal advice.
  • Experience working across European markets, with the ability to navigate complex multi-market legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Comfortable working in a small, hands-on team environment, with a self-sufficient approach and willingness to manage a broad range of legal, operational and administrative responsibilities.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, including experience preparing PowerPoint materials, influencing stakeholders, challenging constructively, and delivering pragmatic, solution-focused recommendations.
