The Role

We are hiring a laboratory technician to join our dynamic team in Manchester. You will work closely with our experimental team assisting in the operations of the laboratory and delivery of commercial enzyme engineering programs.

Responsibilities

  • Perform day-to-day tasks for the smooth operation of a molecular biology / biochemistry laboratory, including autoclaving, reagent and buffer preparation.
  • Manage and maintain stocks of consumables and reagents for the team.
  • Perform molecular biology experiments including PCR and site-directed mutagenesis.
  • Express recombinant proteins (e.g. in E. coli) and carry out purification protocols.
  • Perform DNA next-generation sequencing and analysis.
  • Perform enzyme screening assays.
  • Analyse, document, and communicate experimental data.

Required Experience and Qualifications

  • BSc in biochemistry or a related field.
  • Strong experience working as a technician in a molecular biology, enzyme or biochemistry laboratory.
  • Experience with microbial cell culture and recombinant protein expression.
  • Proficiency in molecular biology techniques.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience with next-generation DNA sequencing and analysis.
  • Experience in enzyme engineering, enzyme assays and screening.
  • Experience in microbial expression of enzymes.

Eligibility to work in the UK

  • Candidates must have the legal right to work in the UK.
