Hours: Monday - Friday, 09:00 - 15:00 (5 days per week)

About Us

Guidant Global is a leading recruitment partner for local authorities, providing high-calibre care support staff. We are looking for Adult Support Workers to join our team and provide day-to-day support for service users within Hertfordshire County Council Supported Living Units.

About the Role

You will support people in their daily activities, enabling independence and promoting choice, inclusion, and citizenship. This service provides emotional and physical support to individuals from different care groups, including:

  • Adults with complex physical and/or learning disabilities
  • People with age-associated needs

Your aim will be to assist people to learn or maintain daily living skills to enable independence as far as possible.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work as part of a small team to provide personal care and activities tailored to individual needs
  • Support clients with personal care, social, emotional, recreational, and learning needs in line with care plans
  • Provide emotional support, companionship, and a safe environment
  • Assist with mobility, including use of equipment
  • Organise and deliver therapeutic and recreational activities to enhance wellbeing
  • Develop personal activity plans and assist in events, ensuring health and safety, comfort, and enjoyment
  • Provide assistance with eating and drinking
  • Administer medication (training provided)
  • Carry out basic first aid when required
  • Promote equality and treat everyone with fairness and dignity
  • Report any concerns about abuse or welfare to the service manager
  • Undertake other duties as directed by the line manager

A Typical Shift Includes:

  • Following care plans, routines, guidelines, risk assessments, and Behaviour Management Plans
  • Personal care, moving & handling, hoisting
  • Assisting with meals
  • Social interaction and companionship
  • Cleaning and household tasks
  • Completing paperwork

Training & Support

Full training and annual refresher training provided and paid for by Guidant Global.

  • Ability to communicate fluently in English (verbal and written)
  • Compassionate, positive attitude and strong interpersonal skills
  • Experience in care support roles preferred
  • Ability to work as part of a team and under pressure
  • Commitment to promoting independence and dignity
  • Access to transport is essential to travel to Borehamwood and other Hertfordshire sites if required.
