Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Java Developer with strong JavaScript capabilities to join a leading investment bank in their Front Office Sales Tools team. The successful candidate will design, build and enhance innovative regulatory, alerting and sales enablement solutions supporting Global Markets sales teams. This is a high-impact role in a fast-paced front-office environment, working on business-critical applications that directly influence sales performance and user experience.

Department Overview

You will join the Global Markets eCommerce & Digital (EC&D) IT division, a team of approximately 250 professionals based across London, Paris, New York and Mumbai. The wider team has delivered award-winning front-office eCommerce platforms, including Cortex and Smart Derivatives. Within this, the Sales Tools Team is responsible for developing key front-office applications such as:

  • Front Office Regulatory Tool
  • Central Visibility Service
  • Business Alerting Launchpad

The development team operates across the UK and Portugal, working closely with support and QA teams in Paris and India.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain front-office sales tools, applications and supporting utilities
  • Contribute across the full software development lifecycle (Agile), including:
    • Requirements analysis
    • Technical design
    • Development
    • Testing
    • Code reviews
  • Engage directly with business stakeholders to enhance user experience and optimise sales processes
  • Collaborate with production support teams on releases, maintenance and issue resolution
  • Provide third-line support for production systems
  • Ensure high performance, scalability and robustness of applications

Required Skills & Experience

  • Minimum 4+ years’ software development experience (or equivalent)
  • Strong server-side Java development expertise
  • Experience building web-based applications and RESTful APIs
  • Solid JavaScript/Front-End development experience, ideally with React
  • Understanding of performance optimisation and profiling
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal), with the ability to engage effectively with technical and business stakeholders

Desirable Skills

  • Experience with relational databases and SQL
  • Background in investment banking / financial services
  • Knowledge of multithreaded/concurrent programming
  • Familiarity with CI/CD tools such as TeamCity or Jenkins
  • Experience with deployment automation tools (e.g. Ansible)
  • Exposure to front-office systems, particularly in: FX / FX Options, Credit, Rates
  • Strong problem-solving ability with a proactive mindset
  • Ability to prioritise effectively in a fast-paced environment
