At Impel Talent, we believe great businesses are built by people who feel seen, supported and connected. Our vision is simple: to build high-performing teams through genuine human connection.
We partner with organisations such as Airbus, Johnson & Johnson, Takeda and BASF through two connected services: Leadership & Development (our ENGAGE, EMERGE, EVOLVE and ELEVATE programmes, human-skills assessments and our coaching platform, Impel Connect) and Mission-Critical Search for board, C-suite and senior leadership appointments. Founded by Nathaniel Chapman and Terentia Browne, we work across the UK and South Africa.
Why we run this internship programme. We want to give students and graduates what is often hardest to find early in a career: real work experience, genuine leadership development and the corporate confidence that comes from doing work that matters, alongside people who invest in you.
Create your own role. In the final weeks of the internship, you will build a value proposition showing the impact you have made and the return on investment of turning your role into a permanent one, and you will present it to the Impel Talent board.
The role
You will be the engine behind how Impel Talent shows up in the world. You will run the logistics of our podcast, Breaking the Chain, find stages for our founders to speak on, and help us deliver our Live Leadership Event: a day of learning and connection for senior executives that raises funds for the LINC Foundation, a South African charity equipping under-resourced young people and teachers through literacy, social-emotional learning and play-based education. You can see our previous Live Leadership Event here.
What you'll do
Breaking the Chain podcast
- Research, approach and book guests: senior leaders, coaches and people-focused thinkers
- Manage recording days end to end: scheduling, guest briefs, studio or remote set-up, and on-the-day hosting
- Keep the guest pipeline, recording calendar and release schedule organised
- Work with our Social Media & Content Intern to promote each episode
Speaking and PR opportunities
- Identify podcasts, panels, conferences and industry events where our founders can speak
- Draft pitches and outreach, and track responses and confirmed bookings
- Prepare founders with briefing notes on each audience and host
Live Leadership Event (LINC Foundation fundraiser)
- Support event planning: venue, run of show, suppliers, budget tracking and timelines
- Help build the senior-executive guest list and manage invitations and RSVPs
- Coordinate speakers and partners, and support fundraising activity for the LINC Foundation
- Help host on the day, welcoming guests and keeping the programme running smoothly
- Measure the outcome: attendance, funds raised, feedback and follow-up
What you'll bring
- A current student or recent graduate (any discipline; PR, communications, marketing or events is a plus)
- Exceptional organisation: you can juggle guests, deadlines and details without dropping any
- Confident, warm communication in writing and in person, including with senior people
- Initiative and resourcefulness: you find the opportunity, then make it happen
- A genuine interest in leadership, people and purpose-driven work
- Bonus: experience organising events, societies, fundraisers or podcasts
What you'll gain
- Hands-on experience producing a podcast and a senior-executive event from start to finish
- Direct exposure to senior leaders, our founders and our client network
- Leadership development and coaching from a business whose work is developing leaders
- The chance to build and pitch your own full-time role to the board
