As our Head of Consulting, you will help us re‑define what’s possible in pharma. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, will be to supercharge our growth, using your creativity and commercial nous to broaden and deepen our current areas of practice.
This role is ideal for a life sciences leader who can’t stand copy‑and‑paste consulting and wants to leverage their deep expertise to bring genuinely novel approaches into the world. You’ll be inheriting a talented team committed to delivering deep impact with our clients.
Why we exist.
There are thousands, maybe even millions, of consulting companies in the world. Only a few are trying to bring something genuinely novel to the world. We believe our company, Impatient Health, is one of them.
Our work is exclusively in the pharmaceutical, biotech and medtech industries, which tend to think of themselves as mature and conservative in their approach to risk. We’re here to help them become more ambitious, open‑minded and creative – because patients demand it. We help them dream, and then turn those dreams into reality.
We are also growing fast. Despite being young (just under 5 years old), we have grown some incredible assets – (i) knowing everyone in the industry, (ii) having an ‘independent’ positioning, and (iii) having a CEO who is known as a disruptor & thought‑leader. Because of this, we receive many organic approaches from potential clients who are looking for help on a wide variety of projects. We need someone who can convert this enviable traction into long‑standing, profitable engagements with a timespan of several years.
This could be for you if…
- You’ve earned your stripes within Pharma, having spent at least a decade immersing yourself in the industry. You’re clear on what’s broken, what needs to change and how.
- You’ve spent at least 7 years in consulting, getting your teeth into a wide range of engagements and touching a different parts of the pharma value chain.
- You have demonstrable experience growing a team and a consulting practice.
- You know and are a trusted advisor to some of the best minds in the industry.
- You’re an experienced, pace‑setting leader who invests deeply in your team’s growth and brings out the best in those around you.
In addition to the above, some of the qualities you possess are…
- You’re impact driven: you want to leave this world better than you found it and our mission gives you chills.
- Your standards are sky‑high: you understand what genuine innovation looks and feels like and you have a strong track record managing teams who deliver it.
- Ambiguity excites you: you love turning clarity into chaos and know how to guide teams to solve knotty problems with a clear process.
- You’re an engaging facilitator: able to whip up a workshop in a flash and coach others to do the same.
- You’re charismatic communicator: you’re capable of identifying and articulating messages clearly and could inspire a blank wall.
- Your commercial acumen is second to none: you’re able to contribute to the overall company strategy and growth.
- You’re resilient and relentless: you turn strategy into action and stay accountable to your vision.
- You’re independent: you’re most comfortable with a decentralized high‑trust environment and never wait to be ‘told what to do’.
- You have bags of EQ: you’re able to adapt your management style to get the best out of your team.
Your responsibilities.
- Develop and execute a crystal clear strategic vision for our practice, building on our successful offerings and developing new ones which anticipate our client’s needs.
- Expand our imprint by growing relationships with existing clients and securing new opportunities.
- Own strategic accounts and spot new commercial opportunities aligned with our revenue strategy.
- Ensure all of our projects are delivered to the highest possible standards and that we keep raising the bar.
- Collaborate closely with our Head of Sales and CEO on Sales and Marketing – driving new business through thought leadership, developing project design methodologies and signing off on project pricing and proposals.
- Manage, mentor and expand our diverse, global team of consultants, fostering a high‑performance environment that is deeply collaborative and supportive.
- Embody and champion our values in everything we do – internally and externally.
- Play an integral role within our leadership team, supporting and challenging your peers in equal measure.
