Join Us as a SEN TA Special Needs Autism in an SEN School. We are supporting a well-established SEN school in recruiting a SEN Teaching Assistant with experience working with children with Autism. The role will involve supporting verbal and non-verbal pupils within an inclusive classroom environment, focusing on sensory needs and communication support. Experience with PECS and Makaton would be beneficial.

Responsibilities

  • The SEN TA Special Needs Autism recruited for this role will be expected to collaborate with colleagues to share best practices and ensure students continuously challenge themselves to improve.
  • The SEN TA Special Needs Autism appointed to this position will need to establish and maintain the standards of pupil behaviour required to create an orderly and productive environment.
  • Strong understanding of mental health challenges in children and adolescents.
  • Experience in implementing strategies to support emotional well-being.

Qualifications / Experience

  • You must have a Bachelor's degree or equivalent, as well as a PGCE or equivalent Teaching qualification, to be eligible for this role.
  • You also need to have, or be eligible for, British QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) or equivalent to be considered for this job.
  • To be eligible for this position you will also need proven classroom experience or training.
