A leading organisation in the oil & gas logistics sector is seeking a Head of Legal to lead its in‑country legal function and support executive leadership on critical legal and risk matters. This is a hands‑on leadership role where you will oversee all legal activities across a complex, high‑value operation. As Head of Legal, you will act as a trusted advisor to the Managing Director, driving legal strategy while remaining closely involved in litigation, debt recovery, and day‑to‑day legal execution.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Lead and manage the in‑house legal function, ensuring efficient handling of all legal matters across the business.
  • Oversee and actively manage ongoing litigations and disputes, ensuring timely progress, resolution, and reporting.
  • Take ownership of debt recovery processes, coordinating with internal and external stakeholders to secure outcomes.
  • Provide strategic legal advice to the Managing Director, supporting decision‑making across risk, contracts, and corporate governance.
  • Ensure full compliance with local and international regulations, maintaining strong legal and ethical standards.
  • Prepare and deliver regular legal reporting to senior leadership, including monthly updates on key cases and risks.
  • Manage relationships with external legal advisors, ensuring effective support when required.

Who You Are

  • You hold a Bachelor’s degree in Law (LLB), with additional qualifications such as LLM or Bar certification considered advantageous.
  • You bring 8–10 years’ experience in corporate legal practice, ideally within oil & gas, logistics, or a similarly regulated sector.
  • You have proven experience in litigation management, debt recovery, and contract negotiation.
  • You are a confident legal leader, able to manage teams while remaining hands‑on in complex casework.
  • You communicate clearly and effectively, with strong reporting and analytical capabilities.
  • You are comfortable working in a demanding operational environment, balancing strategic input with execution.
