Salary: £28,000 - £33,000 per annum + Company Van, Equipment, Benefits

Location: Reading, Berkshire, GB

Hours: Monday - Friday (8-hour shifts)

About the role:

Are you an experienced Forklift Battery Engineer with a background in battery repair and a passion for delivering excellent service? Do you enjoy working independently and solving technical challenges on-site? If so, we want to hear from you. We are currently recruiting for a Forklift Battery Engineer to cover Reading and surrounding areas. This is a field-based role with no call-out requirements, offering autonomy and flexibility for the right candidate.

Responsibilities:

  • Service, maintain, and repair forklift battery systems on customer sites
  • Carry out routine battery maintenance including topping, cleaning, and inspections
  • Diagnose faults and carry out repairs on batteries and chargers
  • Liaise with customers and provide a high level of service and communication
  • Complete job sheets and service reports accurately and on time
  • Prepare and transport equipment safely between sites
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers and internal teams
  • Work closely with the service department to plan and prioritise workload
  • Provide support for additional cover when required

Qualifications:

  • Have strong electrical knowledge and experience working with forklift batteries (charger repair desirable)
  • Hold a full UK Driving Licence (company van provided)
  • Be confident, professional, and well-organised
  • Have excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Be able to work independently and manage their own workload
  • Be diligent, reliable, and capable of working under pressure
  • Have experience within an MHE or materials handling environment (desirable but not essential)
  • Be IT literate and comfortable completing documentation and reports
