Working Hours:

  • Monday to Thursday: 07:00 – 16:00
  • Friday: 07:00 – 12:00
  • Occasional weekend work required
  • Occasional requirement to oversee night shift start (from 17:00, Monday to Thursday)

Impact Recruitment are proud to be recruiting on behalf of a respected and long-established precision engineering firm based in Rugby. This company provides high-quality machining solutions to a range of industries including power generation, defence, and heavy industry. We are seeking a hands-on Machine Shop Foreman to take a lead role in daily operations on the shop floor. This position would suit an experienced machinist with strong leadership capabilities, who thrives in a fast-paced engineering environment and enjoys overseeing production while remaining actively involved in machining activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage daily shop floor operations and coordinate workflow
  • Lead and supervise a team of machinists and engineers
  • Operate manual machinery (lathe and/or milling machine) to a high standard
  • Read and interpret complex technical and engineering drawings
  • Use measuring equipment accurately to ensure quality standards are met
  • Make informed decisions to resolve issues and maintain productivity
  • Collaborate with management and support departments to achieve production goals
  • Provide occasional oversight of the night shift team\’s start (17:00, Monday to Thursday)
  • Adapt quickly to fluctuating workloads and deadlines

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in a supervisory role within a machine shop or engineering workshop
  • Proficiency in operating manual lathes and/or milling machines
  • Strong ability to interpret detailed engineering drawings
  • Confident use of micrometres, verniers, gauges, and other precision measuring tools
  • Excellent leadership, coordination, and communication skills
  • Proactive and solutions-oriented, with sound decision-making ability
  • Flexibility to support weekend work and occasional shift cover

Desirable Skills:

  • Full UK driving licence
  • Experience with CNC machinery (setting or programming)
  • Familiarity with CAD software or CAD outputs
