Impact Recruitment are currently working with a specialist engineering and machinery safety consultancy based in Wellingborough who are looking to recruit a Technical Trainer to join their growing team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a strong electrical and/or mechanical understanding to develop into a highly skilled trainer and consultant within a niche and growing sector. This role offers long-term development, hands-on field experience, and the opportunity to work across a huge range of industries and machinery types - from robotics and manufacturing systems through to specialist engineering equipment.

Location: Covering UK (Head office in Wellingborough)

Hours: Typically Monday - Friday, 08:00 - 16:00

Salary: £35,000 - £40,000 per annum (DOE)

Contract: Permanent

The Role

Initially, the successful candidate will undergo extensive training and mentoring to build knowledge and confidence within machinery safety and compliance. Over time, the role will evolve into a mixture of technical consultancy and training delivery. During the first stages of development, the role will mainly involve conducting machinery risk assessments and PUWER assessments on customer sites. As experience grows, the role will progress towards delivering technical training courses and consultancy services.

Duties

  • Deliver technical training courses covering PUWER, UKCA/CE, and machinery safety compliance
  • Conduct machinery risk assessments and PUWER assessments across a variety of industries
  • Carry out site audits, inspections, and machinery safety reviews
  • Assist with UKCA/CE compliance reviews and safety reporting
  • Develop and improve technical training materials and course content
  • Communicate technical safety guidance clearly to customers and colleagues
  • Work closely with clients to provide practical machinery safety solutions
  • Produce accurate technical reports and documentation
  • Travel to customer sites across the UK, with regular overnight stays required (typically at least once per week)
  • Occasional overseas travel opportunities may also be available throughout the year

The ideal candidate must

  • Have a strong electrical and/or mechanical engineering background
  • Be confident presenting technical information to groups of people
  • Be able to hold technical discussions and communicate clearly
  • Be comfortable visiting customer sites and working independently
  • Be eager to learn machinery safety legislation and compliance standards
  • Have strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Hold a full UK Driving Licence and have access to a reliable vehicle
  • Be organised, professional, and confident in front of customers

Desirable

  • Previous technical training or presentation experience
  • Knowledge of PUWER, UKCA/CE, or machinery safety legislation
  • Electrical engineering background
  • Experience within manufacturing, automation, machinery, or industrial environments
