Are you an experienced Warehouse Shift Manager with a strong background in warehouse or distribution operations? Do you thrive in a fast-paced environment where leadership, organisation, and operational efficiency are key? If so, we want to hear from you. We are currently recruiting for a Warehouse Shift Manager to join a well-established distribution centre based in Thrapston. This is an excellent opportunity to take ownership of daily warehouse operations, leading teams across inbound, outbound, returns, and quality processes while driving performance, safety, and continuous improvement.
Location: Thrapston
Shift: Monday to Friday (06:30 - 14:30)
Contract: Permanent
Salary: upto £40k
Duties:
- Oversee daily warehouse operations including goods in, putaway, despatch, returns, QA/QC, and shipping administration
- Supervise warehouse personnel, equipment, and operational zones
- Ensure safe opening and closing of the distribution centre when required
- Maintain operational accuracy, productivity, and KPI performance
- Allocate labour effectively in line with daily operational plans
- Monitor operational flow and escalate risks, delays, or performance issues
- Support correct use of warehouse systems and operational tools
- Maintain site security and control access for drivers, contractors, and visitors
- Carry out operational handovers and maintain communication across shifts
- Work closely with internal departments to resolve stock, service, or system-related issues
Health & Safety Responsibilities:
- Ensure full compliance with company health and safety policies and legislation
- Conduct safety inspections and resolve hazards promptly
- Ensure correct use of PPE and safe working practices
- Support risk assessments, toolbox talks, and safety training completion
- Investigate incidents and support corrective actions
The Ideal Candidate Must:
- Have previous experience supervising teams within a warehouse or distribution environment
- Demonstrate strong leadership and people management skills
- Have excellent communication and organisational ability
- Possess strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Have good commercial awareness and ability to manage labour efficiently
- Have strong working knowledge of health and safety within logistics operations
- Be flexible and reliable, particularly during busy or peak periods
