Are you an experienced Resident Engineer with a background in servicing and repairing forklift batteries and chargers? Do you enjoy working on-site, building strong working relationships, and providing hands-on engineering support? If so, we want to hear from you.
We are currently recruiting for a Resident Engineer to support operations across two customer sites in Northampton. This is a site-based role (not field service), offering stability, structured working hours, and the opportunity to work closely with customers while delivering essential maintenance and repair services.
Location: Northampton
Hours: Monday - Friday (Days)
Salary: Β£28,000 - Β£32,000 per annum (DOE) + Company Van, Equipment, Company Benefits & Training Opportunities
Contract: Permanent
Duties:
- Service, maintain, and repair forklift batteries and battery charging equipment
- Carry out routine battery maintenance including cleaning, topping up, and inspections
- Diagnose faults and carry out repairs to ensure equipment remains operational
- Provide on-site engineering support and maintain strong customer relationships
- Complete service reports and maintenance documentation accurately
- Ensure all work is completed in line with health and safety procedures
- Support preventative maintenance schedules to reduce downtime
- Work closely with internal service teams to coordinate support when required
- Maintain company equipment and ensure safe working practices at all times
The Ideal Candidate Must:
- Have proven experience servicing and repairing forklift batteries and chargers
- Have strong electrical or electro-mechanical knowledge
- Be confident working independently on customer sites
- Have strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
- Be organised, reliable, and customer focused
- Hold a full UK driving licence
- Have experience within MHE, battery, or materials handling environments (preferred)
- Be comfortable completing service documentation and using basic IT systems
