Impact Recruitment are recruiting for a Field Service Engineer to join our client, a well-established manufacturer of automated entrance control equipment used in commercial, transport and high-security environments. This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced engineer who enjoys working independently, solving technical problems on site and taking ownership of installations, servicing and fault finding from start to finish. You'll be supported by an experienced technical team while enjoying the autonomy to manage your own workload and develop your engineering skills on specialist equipment.

Salary: Up to £36,000 Basic Salary

Hours: Monday to Friday working 8am-4pm

Location: Head office in Northampton with National Travel

What you'll be doing:

  • Installing, servicing and repairing entrance control systems including barriers, bollards, turnstiles and speed lanes.
  • Diagnosing and repairing electrical and mechanical faults on customer sites.
  • Carrying out planned preventative maintenance and reactive breakdown work.
  • Commissioning new equipment and completing final testing before handover.
  • Reading electrical drawings and technical documentation.
  • Completing service reports and job documentation accurately.
  • Providing technical support to customers where required.
  • Delivering a high standard of customer service on every visit.

What we need from you:

  • Previous experience installing, servicing or maintaining access control or entrance systems.
  • Experience working on equipment such as automatic gates, barriers, bollards, turnstiles, automatic doors or similar electromechanical systems would be highly advantageous.
  • Strong electrical and mechanical fault-finding ability.
  • Ability to read wiring diagrams and technical drawings.
  • A practical, hands-on approach with excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Comfortable working independently and managing your own workload.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.

Further Requirements:

  • CSCS or ECS card required (support available if expired or not held).
  • Regular paid overtime is available and expected.
  • Later finishes are common due to the nature of installation and service work.
  • Travel throughout the UK is required, with occasional overnight stays.
