Impact Recruitment are working with a client to recruit an experienced Senior Quality Engineer to join their team on a permanent basis. You will be working within a high-quality precision engineering and automotive manufacturing environment, supporting world-class OEM programmes and working closely with customers, suppliers, production, engineering, and quality teams.

Role Purpose: As a Senior Quality Engineer, you will act as the technical and quality interface between the business, its customers, and suppliers. You will take ownership of quality delivery across assigned programmes, from APQP and PPAP submission through to production launch and ongoing supplier performance. The role will involve managing customer and supplier quality issues, leading root cause investigations, supporting new programme launches, and ensuring quality standards are consistently maintained.

Hours: Monday-Friday, 8am-4pm

Location: Daventry, Northamptonshire

Salary: £38,000

Responsibilities:

  • Act as the quality contact for assigned OEM customers, managing day-to-day technical and quality communication.
  • Lead the resolution of customer-raised concerns, non-conformances, and concessions.
  • Lead structured root cause analysis using 8D, 5 Whys, Fishbone, and other quality problem-solving techniques.
  • Manage PSW submissions, including preparation of internal quality documentation, tracking, and approval status across live programmes.
  • Manage the day-to-day quality performance of assigned suppliers, leading technical discussions and non-conformance resolution.
  • Conduct or support supplier audits and ensure corrective actions are effectively tracked through to closure.
  • Work with suppliers to prepare PPAP submissions and approve supplier PPAPs prior to onward customer submission.
  • Assess and support the onboarding of new suppliers for new programmes, including capability and process capacity reviews.
  • Lead supplier readiness activities ahead of production launch, including trial runs, first-off inspections, and process validation.
  • Support supplier tooling and process sign-off, ensuring alignment with customer and internal quality requirements.
  • Ensure quality activities and processes are carried out in accordance with IATF 16949 requirements.
  • Use FactoryMaster MRP to carry out fundamental quality tasks, including releasing and rejecting parts.
  • When required, measure mass production first-off and last-off parts using FARO CMM equipment.
  • Develop measurement programmes for parts based on GD&T and appropriate datum strategies.
  • Work closely with production, engineering, and quality teams, maintaining a hands-on presence on the production floor and at supplier sites.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working as a Quality Engineer within a manufacturing environment, preferably automotive.
  • Working knowledge of IATF 16949 and customer-specific requirements.
  • Experience with automotive core tools including APQP, PFMEA, Control Plans, and PPAP.
  • Strong understanding of root cause analysis techniques, including 8D, 5 Whys, and Fishbone.
  • Knowledge of measurement techniques, ideally including FARO CMM equipment and developing measurement programmes.
  • Understanding of engineering drawings and GD&T.
  • Experience managing customer and supplier quality relationships.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with a proactive and assertive approach.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the confidence to communicate with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Must be flexible and willing to travel to customer and supplier sites when required.
  • Full UK driving licence is required.
  • Experience using FactoryMaster MRP would be advantageous.
