Chief Subeditor – Content Marketing Agency

We are working with a wonderful content marketing agency who are seeking a talented and experienced Chief Subeditor to join their creative and dynamic team within a well-established marketing agency. The role involves working on a diverse publishing programme that includes magazines, annual reviews, books, and digital campaigns.
Our client is looking for a highly motivated individual who can balance creativity with precision. The ideal candidate will bring strong organisational skills, an eye for detail, and a passion for content creation to our innovative and collaborative team.
Key Responsibilities
- Copyedit, proofread, and fact-check a wide range of content, from print publications to digital assets.
- Sub-edit on layout for a variety of projects.
- Provide feedback and quality control on work completed by freelance editors and contributors.
- Work collaboratively with internal teams across editorial, design, and client services.
- Oversee editorial workflows and ensure deadlines are consistently met.
- Deputise for the Production Editor as required.
- Liaise with clients on schedules and content updates.
- Craft compelling headlines, standfirsts, and captions.
- Undertake additional editorial and administrative duties as necessary.
- Proficiency in InDesign, Acrobat, MS Office, and Google Drive; familiarity with Photoshop and project management tools like Trello is advantageous.
- Minimum of two years’ experience in a Deputy or Chief Subeditor role within a publishing or media environment.
- Strong knowledge of print publishing processes.
- Ability to juggle multiple projects under tight deadlines while maintaining excellent quality standards.
- Experience with scheduling and flat planning for publications.
- Adaptability to tailor writing styles and tone to different audiences.
- Highly organised and detail-oriented.
- Knowledge of media law is essential.
