We’re looking for a Youth Support Worker to join our Children & Young People’s team at the Young People’s Centre in central Brighton. You’ll support young people aged 11–25 through small, inclusive groups, helping them build confidence and positive relationships. Impact Initiatives is a Sussex charity that has supported local communities since 1978. Our services support children and young people, adults with disabilities and older people, helping people of all ages reach their potential and live healthy and fulfilling lives. Our specialist teams are supported by a Central Team providing expertise in finance, HR, IT, facilities, health and safety, and business development. This helps our services focus on the people they work with and the quality of the support they provide. ABOUT OUR YOUTH WORK PROGRAMME Our youth groups offer welcoming spaces where young people can connect with peers and trusted adults. Young people’s ideas and interests shape the activities, from creative projects and cooking to games, wellbeing activities and nature-based opportunities. Our approach centres on relationships, inclusion and participation. Build positive, appropriate and trusting relationships with young people, supporting their confidence, wellbeing and participation. · Help plan and deliver sessions, and prepare and lead agreed activities under the direction of our Youth Work Team Lead. · Adapt activities to different needs, listen to young people’s feedback and help them shape the programme. · Help keep sessions safe, follow safeguarding procedures and contribute to session records, planning and reflection. A Level 2 Youth Work qualification or equivalent relevant qualification, alongside experience of working directly with children or young people. · Experience of planning engaging activities and supporting positive group dynamics. · Good communication and listening skills, with the ability to engage young people with different needs and levels of confidence. · An understanding of safeguarding, professional boundaries and confidentiality, and a commitment to equality, inclusion and young people’s participation. · The ability to work collaboratively and take responsibility for agreed tasks, recognising when to seek support. Experience of supporting young people’s emotional wellbeing, working with neurodivergent young people or delivering creative, outdoor or nature-based activities would be welcome. Wellbeing Wednesday (ages 18–25): Impact Thursday (ages 15–18): Thursday, 1pm–6pm Additional paid hours may be available for school holiday activities, nature-based sessions and occasional weekend work. You’ll be part of an established local charity where your work contributes directly to young people’s lives. Within our CYP team, you’ll have the opportunity to build consistent relationships with young people and help shape activities that reflect their interests and needs. We support staff through regular line-management supervision, team meetings, training and professional development relevant to their role. You’ll work with the support and direction of the Youth Work Team Lead, with opportunities to share ideas and reflect on practice with colleagues. Impact Initiatives is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. This post is subject to an Enhanced DBS check. For further details and to apply, visit the jobs page on Impact Initiatives website.
