Impact Futures Group is recruiting for a Payroll Assistant to join our Finance team. Please note, while this role is remote, there may be the occasional requirement to travel to our Birmingham Office.
Role purpose
The Payroll Assistant will support the accurate and timely processing of payroll across the IFG group, ensuring employees are paid correctly and in line with statutory requirements. Working within an independent training provider, the role will involve handling varied pay arrangements, maintaining payroll records, and supporting compliance with HMRC and pension regulations. This role is ideal for someone with strong attention to detail who enjoys working with data, deadlines, and people.
The role will involve:
- Payroll Processing
- Assist with the end-to-end payroll process for monthly payrolls across the group
- Process starters, leavers, and changes to pay, hours, and contracts
- Calculate pay adjustments, overtime, deductions, and statutory payments
- Support compliance with HMRC regulations, including PAYE, NI, and statutory payments
- Data & Systems
- Maintain payroll information within payroll and HR systems
- Reconcile payroll reports and identify discrepancies
- Respond to payroll-related queries from staff in a professional and timely manner
- Support audits and internal checks as required
- Finance & Team Support
- Work closely with HR and Finance colleagues to ensure payroll accuracy
- Assist with reporting and data requests related to payroll costs
- Contribute to continuous improvement of payroll processes and controls

About You
Essential
- Previous experience in a payroll or finance administration role
- Strong numerical accuracy and attention to detail
- Understanding of payroll processes and statutory requirements
- Confident using payroll systems and Microsoft Excel
- Ability to manage deadlines and work to monthly payroll cycles
- Excellent organisational and communication skills
- Discretion and professionalism when handling confidential information
Desirable
- Knowledge of variable pay or multiple contract types
- Payroll qualification or working towards one (e.g. CIPP)
- Experience with pension schemes and auto-enrolment
