Associate Lecturer in Youth Work

Captiva Learning, part of Impact Futures Group, is looking for an experienced and passionate Associate Lecturer in Youth Work to join our teaching team and support the delivery of our Level 6 Youth Worker Degree Apprenticeship (JNC-recognised). This is an exciting opportunity for a qualified youth work professional who enjoys sharing their knowledge, inspiring learners, and contributing to the development of future youth workers.

As an Associate Lecturer, you'll primarily deliver lectures, assess academic work, and provide high-quality developmental feedback, helping apprentices connect their academic learning with professional practice. The salary banding is up to £40k DOE.

The Role:

As an Associate Lecturer, you'll play a key role in delivering an engaging and inclusive learning experience that reflects current youth work practice, professional values, and national standards. You'll work collaboratively with the programme team to ensure teaching and assessment remain relevant, consistent, and of the highest quality.

• Deliver engaging online lectures and occasional face-to-face teaching sessions in line with module specifications and teaching schedules.
• Develop high-quality teaching materials and learning resources that reflect current youth work practice.
• Adapt teaching to meet learner needs while ensuring alignment with module learning outcomes, the Youth Work National Occupational Standards (NOS), and Apprenticeship Knowledge, Skills and Behaviours (KSBs).
• Mark assignments accurately using agreed assessment criteria and provide clear, constructive, and developmental feedback.
• Review bibliographies and references to support academic integrity and authenticity of student work.
• Encourage apprentices to critically engage with youth work theory, policy, research, and professional practice.
• Participate in moderation and standardisation activities where required.
• Maintain accurate records of teaching, assessment, and learner engagement.
• Promote and model youth work values, including participation, equality, diversity, inclusion, anti-oppressive practice, and reflective professionalism.
• Participate in relevant Continuing Professional Development (CPD), including training on academic integrity and digital assessment platforms such as Canvas SpeedGrader.

About You:

You'll be an experienced youth work practitioner with a genuine passion for teaching, learning, and developing others.

Essential Criteria:

• Qualifications: Master’s Degree (or higher) in Youth Work, or related subject field; JNC-recognised professional youth work qualification.
• Skills, Knowledge and Experience: Recent and relevant youth work practice experience within the last 3–5 years; experience of marking and providing feedback within Higher Education; in-depth understanding of Youth Work values, National Occupational Standards (NOS), and professional sector standards; excellent communication and presentation skills; ability to provide high-quality developmental feedback that supports learner progression; strong attention to detail; commitment to equality, diversity, inclusion, and anti-oppressive practice; professional integrity, reliability, and the ability to work to deadlines.

Desirable Criteria:

• Higher Education teaching qualification.
• Experience teaching on Higher Education programmes or Degree Apprenticeships.
• Experience delivering online and blended learning.
• Experience using Canvas SpeedGrader or similar digital assessment platforms.
• Knowledge of academic integrity processes, including awareness of AI-generated content within Higher Education.
