Role Summary: The role will involve working closely with the project team to manage the company’s ISO45001 safety management system, promoting a proactive safety culture, engaging directly with the workforce, inspecting work operations, risk assessing levels of compliance against company and client standards, and working closely with, and reporting performance to the project Health and Safety Manager. The role is suitable for any health & safety professional with a pre-existing background in construction or civil engineering. This will be a full time permanent role.
As our successful candidate you will be competent in the following areas:
- Working under the guidance of the company Health & Safety Manager.
- Advising site management on day-to-day health & safety matters.
- Building up a good rapport with the client and the workforce.
- Ensuring compliance with UK Health & Safety Legislation/CDM Regs/Client’s standards.
- Coordinating the completion of safety paperwork by supervisors (briefings/inspections).
- Carrying out daily and weekly site inspections.
- Delivering toolbox talks on health, safety and wellbeing themes.
- Attending and chairing safety meetings.
- Investigating accidents, incidents and near misses and sharing lessons learned.
- Reviewing documentation for appropriate health & safety content (method statements etc).
- Managing the implementation of the project ISO45001 Safety Management System.
- Lead Health & Safety Compliance at a site level.
- Ability to lead and mentor Junior Team members.
- Willingness to challenge unsatisfactory conditions or breaches.
Core Competency Requirements:
- Extensive experience in a Health & Safety advisory role within the construction / civil engineering industry.
- Recognised Qualification in Health & Safety.
- Valid CSCS Card or equivalent.
- Full valid driver’s licence.
Desirable but not essential:
- Experience of working on civil engineering projects.
- IOSH / IIRSM or other professional Membership.
- Experience of working within an OHSAS 18001 or ISO 45001 Safety Management System.
