Role Overview
Reporting to the Environmental Lead, this role forms part of the HSESQ (Health, Safety, Environmental, Sustainability & Quality) team, providing technical support and practical guidance to project teams. The role is predominantly site-based, operating from the highlands office and across active project work sites, working closely with environmental specialists and contractors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the implementation of environmental strategy and standards across the project.
- Assist in delivering the Contract Environmental Management Plan (CEMP), ensuring environmental aspects are effectively identified and managed.
- Provide guidance on environmental legislation, industry standards, and contractual requirements.
- Deliver environmental training and promote awareness across project teams.
- Conduct environmental inspections, audits, and site monitoring activities.
- Work closely with ecology and archaeology specialists supporting the project.
- Provide technical advice on key environmental areas, including: Peat management, Water management, Habitat and species protection, Environmental constraints.
- Support incident reporting, investigation, and trend analysis.
- Liaise with the Environmental Lead on site risks, activities, and mitigation measures.
Skills & Experience
- Experience in environmental roles within construction, infrastructure, or utilities projects.
- Strong understanding of environmental compliance and site-based monitoring.
- Ability to interpret environmental data and provide practical solutions.
- Experience engaging with project teams and external stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Degree (or equivalent) in an environmental or related discipline (desirable).
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience as an Environmental Adviser or ECoW.
- Professional membership of an environmental body (desirable).
- Knowledge of UK / Scottish environmental legislation and consenting processes.
- Experience in environmental auditing, inspections, and reporting.
- Full UK driving licence.
