Residential Conveyancing Paralegal needed to support fee‑earners and solicitors in managing a busy caseload of residential property transactions. The role combines legal administration, client care, document preparation, and case progression to ensure smooth, compliant, and timely completions. Ideal for someone who thrives on organisation, communication, and problem‑solving within a fast‑moving legal environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • File Management — Open new files, carry out conflict checks, prepare client care packs, and maintain accurate, compliant records throughout the transaction lifecycle.
  • Client Communication — Act as a first point of contact for clients, estate agents, lenders, and other solicitors; provide updates, request information, and manage expectations professionally.
  • Title Investigation Support — Assist with reviewing title documents, raising enquiries, and preparing reports on title under supervision.
  • Searches & Due Diligence — Order and review searches (local authority, drainage, environmental), check results for issues, and escalate concerns appropriately.
  • Drafting & Document Preparation — Prepare contracts, transfer deeds, completion statements, SDLT forms, and other conveyancing documentation.
  • Compliance & Risk Management — Carry out AML/KYC checks, ensure adherence to SRA and CQS requirements, and follow internal compliance procedures.
  • Post‑Completion Work — Submit SDLT returns, register applications with HM Land Registry, deal with requisitions, and close files once complete.
  • Caseload Progression — Proactively chase outstanding information, monitor key dates, and help drive transactions forward to exchange and completion.
  • General Administrative Support — Handle correspondence, maintain diaries, manage incoming post, and support fee‑earners with day‑to‑day tasks.

Skills & Experience

  • Experience in residential conveyancing within a law firm or legal services environment.
  • Strong understanding of the conveyancing process, Land Registry requirements, and lender panel expectations.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • High level of organisation, accuracy, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple files and work to deadlines.
  • Confident using case management systems and digital conveyancing tools.
  • A proactive, client‑focused approach with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Paralegal certification or legal studies (e.g., LLB, LPC, CILEX) beneficial but not essential.
  • Experience working within a CQS‑accredited practice is an advantage.
