We have a Fixed Term Contractor position available for a Senior Scientist II in our Exploratory Diagnostics group. The Senior Scientist II will work independently to conduct and design experimental investigations using Immunohistochemistry (IHC) or Immunofluorescence (IF) to analyse clinical trial and non-clinical tissue samples, enabling the advancement of the Company pipeline, process, or technology capabilities, proposing improvements for consideration by colleagues and managers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Independently testing and leading lines of investigation, proposing new experiments based on emerging data and providing support on technical aspects to others.
  • Establishing priorities for own work and team-based projects, making decisions on prioritisation based on the overall goals of the team, department and project.
  • Sharing knowledge with the wider team; may act as a mentor or manager to other colleagues.
  • Ensuring all records and information are up to date and recorded to the correct standard.
  • Providing technical guidance to others within the team on effective equipment use.
  • Championing Health & Safety within the company, providing ad-hoc training as required.
  • Communicating and presenting research findings at meetings with colleagues, senior management and partners.

Experience and Knowledge:

Essential:

  • Background in molecular biology, cell biology and/or immunology.
  • Extensive experience in techniques such as FFPE and frozen sample preparation, tissue sectioning, histology, and immunohistochemistry.
  • Competent in using microscopes and scanners for digital image acquisition.
  • Significant experience with digital image analysis software and immune- and tumour pathology.
  • Significant experience of independent research in academic or industrial settings.
  • Good competence in Microsoft Office package.

Desirable:

  • Experience in RNA in situ hybridization and/or multiplex IHC/IF.
  • Experience in a GCP-regulated environment.
  • Experience with HTA regulation.

Education & Qualifications:

Essential:

  • BSc or MSc in molecular/cellular biology and/or immunology or related discipline.

Desirable:

  • PhD in related discipline.
