Key Responsibilities
- Support the planning, implementation and review of Immunocore’s Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) policies and procedures, including those relating to wellbeing.
- Collaborate with key stakeholders to create a workplace that is safe and healthy for employees, contractors, and visitors, while meeting sustainability and budget targets.
- Lead the review of EHS systems, advise the EHS Director, and coordinate with facilities, research teams and projects to ensure safety is fully considered.
- Audit, assess and develop current EHS systems and activities.
- Support and develop the EHS support groups (Mental health first‑aiders, Safety Reps, Ergo Champions, Fire Marshals, Sustainability Champions).
- Lead fire safety strategy, advise on fire safety issues and provide recommendations.
- Engage with stakeholders to identify and implement safety improvement strategies.
- Drive corrective actions and improvements to safety practices.
- Carry out design safety reviews of relevant project work.
- Support projects in CDM (Construction, Design & Management) activities.
- Review contractor risk assessments and Method Statements (RAMS).
- Enhance site control of contractors.
- Investigate near‑misses, incidents and accidents.
- Mentor safety support groups and support their development.
- Analyse data from electronic EHS systems (e.g., Eco‑online, ChemWatch).
- Provide professional EHS advice to employees.
- Work with the site to develop a safety behavioural program.
- Develop and facilitate EHS training courses and modules, including toolbox talks.
- Remain operationally focused and meet tight deadlines.
- Develop Gantt charts, conduct critical‑path analysis, root‑cause and failure‑mode analysis.
Supervisory Responsibility
Act as deputy for the EHS Director.
Education, Experience and Knowledge
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
- Relevant EHS qualification (ISOH).
- 10+ years of experience in a similar position.
- Experience in a bi‑tech research environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Excellent analytical, problem‑solving and decision‑making skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organisational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- In‑depth understanding of health and safety legislation.
