Senior Embedded Software Test Engineer (Permanent) Location: Birmingham (hybrid) - with travel to customer/test sites as neededVisa sponsorship: Not availableThe role Join a leading automotive execute and report results- Run bench / HIL / system integration testing and practical validation- Debug issues, investigate defects, and support root-cause analysis- Validate safety-related behaviour in line with ISO 26262- Work closely with controls, hardware and systems teams, plus customers/suppliers- Mentor junior engineers and drive good testing/documentation practiceWhat you'll need - Strong experience in embedded software testing (OEM / Tier 1 / similar)- Good knowledge of embedded C/C++ and firmware testing on bespoke hardware- Test lifecycle experience (requirements strategy execution reporting)- Scripting / automation using Python (or similar)- Working understanding of functional safety and ISO 26262- Comfortable producing clear engineering documentation (test specs, reports, work instructions)- Automotive networks model-based tools (e.g., Simulink/TargetLink)- Experience testing BMS, inverters, DC/DC, onboard chargers- Automotive SPICE awareness; calibration/diagnostic tool experience- Control systems understandingApply If you're an embedded software test engineer with strong C/C++ and automotive validation experience, apply to be considered.
