Our client is a large, multi-site organisation that provides critical services across the UK. With a significant technology transformation programme underway, they continue to invest heavily in their infrastructure, security, and cloud capabilities.
The Role
You will lead a team of Network Engineers responsible for the design, delivery, support, and continuous improvement of a large-scale enterprise networking environment spanning hundreds of locations across the UK. This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll combine technical expertise with people management responsibilities, leading networking projects, driving automation initiatives, and ensuring the network infrastructure remains secure, resilient, and scalable. You'll work closely with Infrastructure, Security, Cloud, and Service teams while acting as the technical lead for all networking-related initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor and develop the Network Operations team.
- Own the lifecycle management of enterprise networking infrastructure.
- Manage and optimise a large-scale Cisco Meraki environment including switching, wireless, and security appliances.
- Deliver network transformation projects, upgrades, and new site deployments.
- Manage WAN, LAN, VPN, SD-WAN and wireless technologies.
- Support and enhance hybrid cloud connectivity across Azure and on-premise environments.
- Oversee telephony and connectivity solutions working alongside third-party providers.
- Drive network automation initiatives using PowerShell, Python, or similar technologies.
- Collaborate with Security teams to ensure compliance with organisational security standards and best practices.
- Manage supplier relationships and connectivity providers.
- Maintain network documentation, diagrams, standards, and operational processes.
- Act as the senior escalation point for complex networking issues and major incidents.

You will be an experienced networking professional with strong leadership capabilities and a proven track record managing enterprise-scale, multi-site networking environments. You'll enjoy balancing strategic thinking with hands-on technical delivery and be comfortable leading projects, mentoring engineers, and engaging with stakeholders across the business.
