They're investing heavily in strengthening their cyber security capabilities and are looking for an experienced IT Security Engineer to play a key role in protecting their cloud, network and endpoint environments.
Working within a collaborative Infrastructure & Security team, you'll have the opportunity to influence security strategy, implement modern security technologies and help safeguard critical business systems across a large-scale enterprise environment.
The Role
You'll join a technically strong IT Security team responsible for securing Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365 and enterprise network infrastructure. Acting as a security subject matter expert, you'll help design, implement and continually improve security controls across cloud, infrastructure and endpoint environments. The role combines project work with operational security, giving you the opportunity to investigate incidents, perform security assessments, improve automation and work closely with infrastructure teams to ensure security is embedded throughout the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement and maintain security controls across Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365 and enterprise infrastructure.
- Investigate security incidents, lead remediation activities and carry out root cause analysis.
- Conduct regular security assessments, vulnerability reviews and implement corrective actions.
- Configure and maintain Microsoft Defender, Defender XDR and endpoint security policies.
- Manage Azure security services including Entra ID, Conditional Access, Azure Policy, Security Centre and Key Vault.
- Support the security of network infrastructure including firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS and network segmentation.
- Monitor and analyse security events using SIEM technologies (ideally Exabeam).
- Develop and maintain security documentation, standards and operational procedures.
- Automate security tasks and operational processes using PowerShell, Python or similar scripting languages.
- Collaborate with infrastructure and networking teams to continuously improve the organisation's security posture.
About You
You're an experienced IT Security Engineer with a strong background securing Microsoft cloud environments and enterprise infrastructure. You enjoy solving complex security challenges, investigating incidents and continuously improving security across cloud, network and endpoint technologies. You'll be someone who keeps up with emerging threats and enjoys working collaboratively while taking ownership of security initiatives.
Skills & Experience
- 5+ years' experience in IT Security Engineering or a similar infrastructure security role.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Azure security services and best practices.
- Experience securing Microsoft 365, Entra ID and implementing Conditional Access.
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Defender and Defender XDR.
- Strong understanding of network security including firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS and network segmentation.
- Experience with SIEM platforms (Exabeam preferred).
- Scripting experience using PowerShell, Python or similar automation tools.
- Knowledge of security compliance, governance and Azure security hardening.
- Relevant certifications such as AZ-500, CISSP, CISM or CCSP would be highly beneficial.
