They’re looking for a Cloud Platform Engineer to join their growing Hosted Services team. This is an outstanding opportunity for someone with solid AWS and Infrastructure foundations who wants to accelerate their career whilst learning from exceptionally experienced engineers working on modern cloud platforms.
Unlike many organisations, this company has a proven track record of developing talented engineers over the long term. Many of their Senior Engineers, Principal Engineers and technical leaders started their careers in similar positions and have progressed internally through structured mentoring, ongoing investment and exposure to enterprise‑scale cloud environments. If you’re ambitious, curious and eager to learn, you’ll be joining a business that genuinely invests in its people.
The Company: This established technology business develops enterprise‑grade cloud software used by organisations operating in mission‑critical, highly regulated environments. Their platforms are built on modern AWS infrastructure with reliability, scalability and automation at the heart of everything they do. Engineering excellence is central to their culture, with Infrastructure, Platform and Software Engineering teams working closely together to continually improve their cloud environments. The business is well known for promoting from within, providing structured career development, regular technical feedback, industry certification support and genuine opportunities to progress into Senior and Principal engineering positions.
The Role: As a Cloud Platform Engineer, you’ll become part of a collaborative Hosted Services team responsible for building, operating and continuously improving the AWS infrastructure that underpins the company’s production platforms. This is a hands‑on engineering role where you’ll work with a modern cloud‑native technology stack, helping to automate infrastructure, improve platform reliability and contribute towards highly available production environments. You’ll gain exposure to a wide variety of AWS managed services, Kubernetes, Infrastructure as Code and modern DevOps practices whilst being supported by experienced engineers who are passionate about mentoring and knowledge sharing.
- Building, operating and improving AWS infrastructure across production hosted environments.
- Managing AWS managed services including Kubernetes (EKS), RDS, DocumentDB, OpenSearch, Amazon MSK and Amazon MQ.
- Developing automation and tooling to improve platform reliability and reduce manual effort.
- Contributing to CI/CD pipelines and GitOps workflows, ensuring infrastructure changes are safe, repeatable and auditable.
- Building and maintaining monitoring, logging and alerting solutions to improve platform observability.
- Supporting highly available cloud services, ensuring reliability and SLA targets are consistently achieved.
- Working closely with Security teams to improve platform security, patching and compliance.
- Producing and maintaining operational documentation and runbooks.
- Participating in an on‑call rota supporting production cloud infrastructure.
About You: This role is as much about attitude and potential as it is about technical skills. We’re ideally looking for someone with 18 months to 3 years’ commercial experience in Cloud Infrastructure, Platform Engineering, DevOps or IT Operations who enjoys learning new technologies and solving technical problems. You’ll likely have:
- A strong academic background in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics or another technical discipline (or equivalent commercial experience).
- Hands‑on experience with AWS and a good understanding of cloud infrastructure principles.
- Exposure to Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, CloudFormation or similar.
- Some experience with Kubernetes or containerised platforms.
- Experience with Linux administration and scripting using Python, Bash or similar.
- An understanding of CI/CD pipelines and modern automation practices.
- An appreciation of monitoring, logging and observability within production systems.
- A solid understanding of infrastructure security best practices.
- Excellent communication skills and the confidence to work collaboratively across engineering teams.
- A proactive attitude with a genuine desire to continually learn and develop.
