The Food Group Design Hub produces world‑class, multimedia content for Britain's leading food media brands, Good Food, olive, Easy Cook, Good Food's Home Cooking series and bookazine collection, working across print and digital platforms with a focus on key verticals - recipes, family and health, along with trends, reviews, drink travel and restaurants. You'll play an important role in the continued growth of both brands, from the magazines and social channels to live events.
This cross‑platform position is within the Design Hub. The role is for a detail driven, motivated junior design hub member to provide administration and design support for the senior team members. This cross‑platform role will involve generating eye‑catching content, visuals and presentation materials in both print and digital formats, including websites, digital editions, email templates, graphics for web and social media and video, as well as print. The successful candidate will maintain a steady workflow of pages through the editorial system, both within the design hub and the wider editorial team.
As a Junior Multimedia Designer, you will:
- Update the internal print and digital workflow document daily
- Design magazine pages and promotional materials under guidance from senior staff
- Collate and file shoots overseen by the Design Hub Manager
- Maintain the issue's virtual dummy
- Create digital assets (website graphics, emails, social media, digital editions, brand campaigns, podcasts, audiobooks, video/audio idents) with Art Directors and Deputy Art Director
- Produce print assets including magazine layouts, adverts, POS materials, event artwork, packaging, products (posters, calendars, supplements), and campaign logos in collaboration with Art, Editorial, and Marketing teams
- Brief and art direct photo and video shoots
- Help develop graphic identities for key campaigns with senior guidance
- Source imagery with the Picture Editor, ensuring rights‑compliant usage
- Ensure all graphics align with brand values and design guidelines for print and digital
- Liaise with stakeholders to ensure projects are clearly briefed with defined objectives
- Process and edit images for print, web, and other platforms
- Liaise with the repro team and update returned images
- Create easy‑to‑use templates for colleagues to produce consistent brand graphics
- Produce graphics for video strands, ensuring compatibility with motion graphics
- Follow set styles and templates for social media and podcast/audio channels
- Collaborate with Marketing and Editorial teams on cross‑platform engagement campaigns
- Deliver review/product content graphics consistent with brand identity
- Support Subscriber Club promotions and coordinate with Subscriptions and Marketing teams
- Follow styles and guidelines for all digital assets (email, social, motion, audio)
- Raise purchase orders and manage commission payments accurately and on time
Requirements:
- A portfolio of design work that demonstrates proficiency in print and digital design
- Basic understanding of print workflow and repro requirements. Training will be provided for in house software
- Experience of creating and editing motion graphics e.g. video idents
- Understanding of digital media formats and social media trends
- A strong eye for typography and a good understanding of the brand's visual identity
- Thorough working knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud, including Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and After Effects, and Premiere Pro plus presentation software, including Powerpoint and/or Keynote
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to drive deadlines with both internal and external partners
- Highly organised with good time management skills and the ability to prioritise workload to meet tight deadlines
- Keen eye for detail
- Ability to work independently as well as in a close team environment
