About The Role
In this exciting new role, you\’ll be working on the print team for BBC History Magazine. Your main responsibility will be to assist in commissioning, editing and writing content for BBC History Magazine. You may also have responsibility for developing content for our HistoryExtra podcast, website and other digital platforms.
As a Content Producer you will:
- Manage editorial sections within BBC History Magazine
- Commission features for the magazine, under the direction of the Editor
- Write articles for the magazine
- Conduct interviews for the magazine (and potentially the podcast too)
- Contribute to editorial meetings
- Liaise with colleagues from our podcast, web and Apple News teams to ensure our content works across multiple platforms
- Commission, write and edit articles for our website as and when required
Requirements
- Experience of working on a magazine, newspaper or digital media brand
- The ability to write copy in line with the highest editorial standards
- A demonstrable passion for and excellent knowledge of history
- Experience writing tight briefs for external contributors
- Highest standard of accuracy and attention to detail
- Knowledge and, ideally, professional experience of digital content platforms
- The ability to work quickly to tight deadlines under pressure
- Flexibility and a professional approach at all times
- The ability to self-supervise in order to meet deadlines
