About the role
As Accounts Assistant at Immediate Transportation Co, you'll play a key role in keeping our customer accounts accurate and up to date, supporting both the sales ledger and purchase ledger. Cash allocated correctly, queries resolved quickly, ledgers reconciled properly, all of it matters to the wider business, and this role sits right at the heart of it. You'll report to the Finance Manager and work alongside the Assistant Accountant, Credit Controller, Operations and Office Managers to keep things running smoothly.
What you'll be doing:
- Allocating customer receipts daily and resolving unallocated cash
- Setting up and maintaining customer accounts in Sage
- Managing customer details across Sage and Freight ERP
- Reviewing the Aged Debtors Report weekly and chasing missing information
- Raising sales invoices and sending monthly customer statements
- Updating the cashbook daily and supporting bank reconciliations
- Supporting purchase ledger tasks, including Courier Exchange invoice administration and SmartPay reconciliation
- Posting monthly credit card expenses and completing intercompany reconciliations
- Importing daily transactions into Sage from Freight ERP
What we're looking for:
- Previous experience in a sales ledger or all-round finance role
- Experience using Sage or equivalent accounting software
- Strong Excel skills for reconciliations and reporting, including pivot tables
- Good attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong communication skills with customers and colleagues
- The ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
- Experience in logistics, freight or supply chain
- AAT qualified or studying towards it
You'll fit right in if you're organised and methodical, proactive when it comes to sorting out queries, professional with customers, flexible enough to move between sales and purchase ledger work, and happy working as part of a team.
