About the role
Immediate is looking for a Podcast assistant to work with our growing podcast team to help us create, edit, curate, and enhance the podcasts that are produced by a variety of specialist print magazine and web editorial teams.
This role will be to primarily to assist in the recording and editing of podcasts, either down-the-line, in person in studio, or in person on location. You’ll be working with our specialist editors as they record interviews with experts in fields as diverse as history, science, and cycle racing. You won’t actually be carrying out the interviews or producing content yourself, but ideally you’ll be able to offer creative input to improve the content of each podcast you work on.
As a Podcast Assistant, you will;
- Work closely with the Podcast Producers, Assistant Producers and other Podcast Assistants
- Assist with the set-up and recording of podcasts, in-house, down-the-line, and on location
- Edit podcasts both visual and audio
- Upload podcasts to online distribution networks
- Offer creative support to editorial teams
- Knowledge of how podcasts are distributed, how podcast feeds and podcast providers work
- Working knowledge of how to use a DAW, preferably Logic Pro X, though other DAWs are acceptable
- Excellent audio editing skills
- Thorough understanding of recording equipment
- Good understanding of microphone types and their use in both a studio environment and on location
- Thorough understanding of different audio formats, their strengths and limitations
- Must be able to troubleshoot recording equipment
- Good organisation skills
- Great communication skills
Desirable
- An understanding of audio repair, ideally with experience using Izotope RX
- Knowledge/experience of video production, recording and editing. Using programs such as Premiere Pro
- Experience handling transfer files such as AAF, OMF, and others
- An understanding of text-based editing software such as Descript
- An understanding and willingness to adapt new production practices, including AI tools and software
