- Search & Discovery Analyst
- (up to £33,000 per annum)
Immediate is home to some of the biggest and most loved consumer brands in the UK, including Radio Times, Good Food and BBC Gardeners World magazine.
Our trusted, quality content reaches millions of people a month across digital, print, video, podcasts, apps and live events.
We’re the destination for people looking to get more from the things they love. We’re here to inspire, fuel, encourage and educate
Whether it’s the big things, or the little things; from reaching fitness goals to savouring good food, cultivating outdoor spaces, or enjoying the latest TV sensation – we help bring our audiences joy!
About the Role
The Search & Discovery Analyst grows the visibility and performance of our content across all discovery surfaces: traditional search and the emerging AI answer surfaces (AI Overviews, Chat GPT, Gemini, Perplexity) alike.
You will work primarily on two of the UK's biggest consumer media brands, BBC Good Food and Radio Times, with ad-hoc support for other brands in the portfolio.
The role combines technical SEO, content optimisation and audience insight to help our brands rank on Google and gain visibility across LLMs and generative AI, so that Immediate can turn that visibility into engaged, returning audiences.
This is a deliberately future-facing version of the SEO analyst role, requiring deep technical knowledge, audience understanding and industry awareness as search shifts from ranking and clicks to visibility and owned audience relationships.
The successful candidate will be comfortable leading technical audits, improving crawlability across domains, and picking apart data for unique insights.
As a Search and Discovery Analyst, You Will
- Search & AI visibility
- Conduct technical SEO audits to identify opportunities to improve crawlability, indexation, structured data and overall site health across search and AI platforms.
- Identify internal linking, entity and semantic optimisation opportunities to improve discoverability and machine readability.
- Support testing and experimentation to improve visibility across search, LLMs and AI answer engines.
- Produce regular performance reports on search and AI visibility, highlighting key insights, trends and recommended actions.
- Work closely with Product & Technology to support the delivery of technical SEO improvements and monitor site performance.
- Content optimisation
- Create entity-led content briefs that optimise for search performance, AI citability and audience intent.
- Conduct content, topic and competitor audits to identify underperforming content and opportunities to improve topical authority, semantic coverage and discoverability across search and AI answers.
- Audience development
- Use search, AI discovery and audience insight to improve the user journey from discovery to registration, newsletter sign-up, subscription and repeat engagement, supporting the Audience Development Lead on owned-channel initiatives where needed.
- General
- Proactively monitor developments across the search and AI discovery landscape, including Google algorithm updates, AI Overviews, LLMs and emerging best practice, and identify opportunities to improve visibility and performance.
- Champion a test-and-learn culture, bringing forward new ideas, experiments and recommendations.
- Share insights, trends and performance updates with editorial teams and stakeholders, supporting training and playbooks that embed best practice across the business.
Requirements
- Solid hands-on experience in technical SEO and content optimisation, with the ability to identify opportunities and turn insight into action.
- A genuine passion for search and AI discovery, with curiosity to explore new technologies and test emerging techniques.
- A proactive, analytical mindset. You don't wait to be asked: you spot opportunities, investigate problems and bring forward ideas.
- Comfortable working with data, using insight from multiple sources to tell a clear story and make practical recommendations. Strong Excel proficiency.
- Experience with industry-leading SEO tools, including Ahrefs, Screaming Frog, Google Search Console and Google Analytics.
Experience with AI visibility platforms (e. g.
Profound, Peec AI, Ahrefs Brand Radar) is beneficial, but a willingness to learn and experiment is equally important.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to present findings and collaborate with editorial, product and technology teams.
Benefits
- A relaxed working environment with regular socials including a summer festival
- Immediate Community webinars, well-being initiatives and Mental Health First aiders
- 25 days holiday plus a day for your birthday. Our offices will be closed between Christmas and New Year’s which are in addition to your annual entitlement
