Digital Designer (up to £34,000) 12 month fixed term contract. About the role: BBC Gardeners’ World is looking for a creative and versatile Digital Designer to join the team. This is a digital-first role focused on creating high-performing content for social, video and online platforms, with a strong emphasis on audience engagement and platform-native creative. You will work across a mix of always-on and reactive digital content initiatives, with the flexibility to shift focus depending on editorial and audience priorities.
What you will be doing:
- Work closely with the Art Director and teams across Editorial, Digital, Social, Video, Marketing and Commercial.
- Contribute to the development of creative concepts and visual ideas for digital and social platforms.
- Design engaging high-quality assets that align with brand identity and audience needs.
- Provide direction and input on motion graphic templates across long and short form video.
- Design weekly video thumbnails optimised for performance.
- Support ad hoc video design needs including YouTube and channel artwork and bespoke motion graphic commissions.
- Create and evolve social first templates such as carousels, thumbnails and story formats.
- Design assets for social campaigns, editorial content and digital partnership activity.
- Support reactive and planned content with fast effective creative solutions.
- Contribute to digital audience-growth activity through engaging social, video and marketing creative.
- Support visualisation work for pitches, campaigns and new formats.
- Help maintain and evolve brand consistency across all digital touchpoints.
Requirements:
- A strong portfolio showcasing digital design across social, video and web.
- Experience or strong interest in motion graphics and video content.
- Good understanding of social platforms, formats and trends.
- Strong typography, layout and visual storytelling skills.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud including Photoshop, Illustrator and After Effects with Premiere Pro a plus.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- An eye for styling and basic flatlay composition for visual content.
