The role will sit within the Group Finance team whose responsibilities include group financial reporting and analysis, treasury and cash flow management, consolidation of the Group’s results, and leading the annual financial audit and production of group financial statements. The Group Finance team works alongside the wider Finance team in London.
Reporting to the Group Finance Manager, the Group Accountant will be responsible for key month end processes for revenue and cost and allocating these accurately to brands in line with the reporting timetable. The role will have a significant focus on balance sheet control, and the Group Accountant will be responsible for delivering timely and accurate balance sheet reconciliations. The Group Accountant will also take on a key role across Treasury activities and the Group’s year end audit and support the Group’s external audit.
The right candidate for this role will be self-motivated and organised. They will take ownership of the broad range of tasks within their remit and quickly develop an in-depth understanding of the business of Immediate Media. The Group finance team plays a key role in supporting the wider finance team and this role will be required to build strong working relationships across the team, resolve queries swiftly and communicate information clearly and accurately.
As a Group Accountant you will:
- Take ownership of the circulation and subscription revenue postings and direct cost allocations at month end including completion of all associated monthly balance sheet reconciliations for these areas.
- Maintenance and reconciliation of fixed asset registers, including monthly depreciation, amortisation, additions and disposal journals.
- Support timely resolution of audit queries across P&L and balance sheet areas.
- Ad hoc analysis, project and other work for the Group Finance Manager and Group Financial Controller as required.
- Have the opportunity to expand responsibilities across Group Finance over time.
Requirements:
- ACCA or CIMA part qualified accountant.
- Previous experience gained in a similar role/commercial environment.
- Solid understanding of basic accounting concepts, systems and processes.
- Experience of working to timetables and strict procedures.
- Demonstrable attention to detail and ability to apply a methodology for ensuring high level of accuracy.
- Experience and understanding of financial systems/software, with good Excel skills.
- Commitment to developing and implementing continual process improvements in a complex reporting structure is a requirement for the role, as is the ability to respond flexibly to changing operational needs.
- A “finisher” with the genuine drive, enthusiasm and commitment to improve the effectiveness of management reporting processes.
- Ability to use initiative, anticipate issues and develop common sense, practical solutions to deliver high quality output to tight deadlines.
- Confident team player with strong influencing, facilitation and communication skills.
- A good communicator, both oral and written, who is an approachable team player.
- Media industry background would be beneficial, but not essential.
- Experience using Access Dimensions would be beneficial.
