About the role

As the Content & Production Manager, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Group Content & Production Manager in producing our expanding portfolio of food magazines. This includes our flagship title, Good Food, which has been the No.1 food media brand in the UK for over 35 years. You will also oversee content for the Good Food app and website.

As a Content & Production Manager you will:

  • Ensure that all content adheres to our house style and maintains a consistent tone of voice across all platforms.
  • Manage a flatplan, liaising with the art department and ads department to ensure pagination meets requirements.
  • Assist the Group Content & Production Manager in proofing pages for press.
  • Sub-edit recipes and features for both digital and print formats.
  • Copy-edit long-form features to ensure clarity, accuracy, and engagement.
  • Craft compelling coverlines and headlines for both print and digital platforms, including Apple News.
  • Oversee the production of the Good Food digital edition.
  • Manage freelancers and other team members to ensure smooth workflow and high-quality output.

A sharp eye for detail with an exceptional ability to notice and correct even the smallest errors, ensuring that all content is polished and professional. Keen editorial judgment with the ability to make sound decisions about content, including what to include, emphasise, or omit, to best serve the target audience and publication goals. Proficient in using Adobe InDesign to create and edit visually appealing and well-structured pages, ensuring a high standard of design and layout. Skilled in managing and updating content on websites using WordPress, including familiarity with plugins, themes, and customization options to enhance user experience. Understanding the principles of search engine optimization (SEO) and applying them to improve the visibility and ranking of content in search engine results. Strong organisational skills, capable of managing multiple tasks and projects efficiently, maintaining a high level of organisation to meet deadlines and achieve objectives. A genuine enthusiasm for food, which is reflected in the ability to create engaging and informative content that resonates with food lovers. Contacts within the cookbook publishing industry would be desirable.
